Please see the attached SOS paper on water challenges for Oxfordshire if current massive growth plans are to be pursued. It has been written by our ex-CEH senior staff and internationally respected hydrological experts John Rodda and Richard Harding. The paper and its contents, widely consulted on, are supported by a large number of water professionals, environmentalists and others who are present and former staff members of the EA, CEH, consulting engineers, trusts and academic bodies.
It raises a number of important issues and has specific recommendations for action – including a strict ban on building on existing flood plains and identification of further newly flood sensitive areas where development should also be forbidden. It has been sent to the LEP to help inform their revised policies. So far though we have had no feedback from them.
